Celebrating Ten Years!!

Time flies when you’re helping families

Ten years ago, Haiti Mama set out with a simple yet profound mission: to provide families in Haiti with the support they need to thrive, despite the overwhelming challenges they face. Today, as we celebrate our 10-Year Anniversary, we reflect on the incredible journey we've taken together—one filled with both trials and triumphs, made possible by your unwavering support.

Haiti has endured more than its fair share of hardships over the past decade. The country has been struck by natural disasters, including devastating earthquakes and hurricanes that have destroyed homes, displaced families, and eroded vital infrastructure. Beyond the physical destruction, Haiti has faced political instability, plunging the country into deeper chaos. Combined with widespread poverty, government dysfunction, and escalating gang violence, Haiti has struggled to rebuild.

Yet, despite these obstacles, Haiti Mama has remained steadfast in its commitment to preserving and restoring families. Thanks to your support, we’ve been able to help thousands of individuals rebuild their lives, create sustainable livelihoods, and remain hopeful for a brighter future.

A Decade of Impact – By the Numbers

In the face of these immense challenges, Haiti Mama’s work has been a beacon of hope for so many.

Over the past ten years, we have:

Haiti Mama Boxes Contribute more than $200K to the Haitian Economy: These boxes not only offer financial stability to Haitian families but also instill a sense of pride in their work, empowering them to reinvest in their communities. By purchasing products made directly by the people of Haiti, consumers help support local craftsmanship and entrepreneurship.

Shipped 2,793 Haiti Mama Boxes of artisan goods: Each Haiti Mama Box has provided a crucial income stream for 20 to 40 artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs, benefiting over 800 individuals who have earned a living through their contributions. In addition to supporting livelihoods, these boxes have brought joy and awareness to global consumers, who can feel good knowing their purchase directly gives back to communities in need.

Impacted Thousands of Families: Each family touched by our programs, whether through direct financial support, micro-business loans, employment, medical care, or social work, represents a life changed. The artisans who participate in our boxes are able to provide food, education, and healthcare for their families—basic needs that were often out of reach.

Stories That Show the Power of Your Support

Behind every statistic is a family whose life has been transformed by your generosity. Here are just a few stories of the incredible resilience we’ve seen over the years:

Charlie, a teenager with a disability, has faced multiple surgeries but is now growing stronger each day thanks to the care provided through Haiti Mama.

Roselene, a mother who prayed for Haiti Mama’s creation, now works in our Disability Care Program, helping other families navigate the challenges of raising children with disabilities.

Saraphina, a young woman who was brought into care just before the orphanage she lived in was destroyed by fire, and found a new path forward after coming under Haiti Mama’s care. She is now, even through her recent illness, thriving in a supportive and loving care environment, the Haiti Mama Disability Care Center.

Mama Wanez, a foster mother and entrepreneur, has built a business while raising her foster children, providing a stable home for them and serving as a pillar in her community.

Mama Andy, a skilled artisan, now earns a steady income creating beautiful, handcrafted goods for our boxes. Her work allows her to independently provide for her family.

The 19 young women who were rescued from an abusive orphanage, thanks to Haiti Mama’s intervention, are now safely reunited with their families and rebuilding their lives.

Our Success Is Your Success

The stories above are just a small glimpse into the incredible work we’ve accomplished together. Your support has not only sustained families in the face of unimaginable adversity but has helped them rise above it.

Looking Forward: The Next 10 Years

As we look toward the future, the challenges in Haiti are far from over. The country continues to struggle with political and social upheaval, and families still face uncertain times. But with your continued support, we are confident that we can build on the success of the past decade and continue to restore hope to families in Haiti.

We are deeply grateful for your generosity and commitment to Haiti Mama. Together, we can continue this journey, one family at a time, creating opportunities, restoring dignity, and transforming lives.

With deepest gratitude,

Tiffany Province and the Haiti Mama Team

Recent Medical Emergency Update

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

You recently partnered with us to fund an 8 day hospital stay for Saraphina, a 10 day hospital stay for Carl Henry, and the memorial service for our dear Junior. We thank you so very much for your help in providing for these unexpected needs. Carl Henry and Saraphina are home and thriving again and everyone else has stayed well.

The memorial service organized for Junior Jean was last week and our family on the ground is grateful to have had the chance to honor him in a beautiful way.

While we would never choose these paths, the comfort provided by you all through all of the methods of support you provided makes everyone feel loved. Thank you.

If you would like to continue to provide for our disability care center, we would love to have your one time or monthly partnership.

$25/month pays for formula to supplement their meals for one child for one week.

$100/month pays for the cost of personal products for one child for one month

$350/month pays for the regularly occurring medical needs for all of our family members with disabilities each month

Or give monthly in any amount. Follow their journey by following us on Instagram @haitimama.

Mama+Job= Stability

One of our very favourite projects has been job creation.

Over ten years we invested our time trying and failing and trying again to create sustainable jobs in Haiti. As you’re thoroughly aware, having a job empowers an individual to influence success in generations to come within their own family and that’s the goal we have for every client.

In 2019, when we implemented the “Mama Box” subscription box program, we found the ideal way to create a beautiful partnership between mamas here in the US/Canada who love responsibly sourced, handmade products with mamas in Haiti who love making beautiful things.

Every quarter we curate a beautiful box of products delivered to your doorstep that does genuine good for artisans in Haiti.

Jacky’s Journey

At Haiti Mama, we are incredibly proud of Jacky—a young man whose journey from adversity to success is remarkable. Jacky’s story is not just a testament to his resilience but also a shining example of the transformative power of reunification.

In 2013, Jacky was living as a “restavek,” or child slave, after being placed in that heartbreaking situation by a family member. Desperate to escape, he fled and ended up living on the streets. It was there that our dedicated social work team found him. Through their relentless efforts, they tracked down his mother, who was struggling to survive in an earthquake tent city. She was unaware of the horrific circumstances Jacky had endured. When our team realized the strong bond between Jacky and his mother, they knew this family was a perfect candidate for our reunification services.

Our founder, Tausha Pearson, vividly recalls the moment of their reunion—a powerful scene reminiscent of a slow-motion, arms-outstretched movie moment. It was the beginning of a new chapter for Jacky and his family.

With the support of Haiti Mama, Jacky’s mother received emergency housing assistance and became one of our first Disability Care mamas. This support allows her to send Jacky and his siblings to school, giving them the opportunity for a brighter future. Jacky embraced this chance with determination, completing his education and securing employment.

Today, Jacky is thriving. He channels his creativity and skill into designing and crafting earrings for our Earring Club memberships and more. He is not only talented and intelligent but also an inspiring symbol of the change we strive to create in Haiti.

Congratulations, Jacky! Your success is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we come together to uplift and empower. We are so proud of you and honored to have you as part of the Haiti Mama family.

A note from our Executive Director

As I approach six months with Haiti Mama, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the strength and spirit of our organization. The unwavering dedication of our social workers and disability care team is truly inspiring.

In 2024, Haiti Mama reached several milestones: we continued the Mama Box business despite ongoing crises, recruited a new social worker, and professionalized our artisans' collective, Bel Bagay. But our journey is far from over. We have ambitious plans for 2025:

Launch our own online shop for individual and wholesale customers, expanding our reach and impact.

Reach 1,000 Haiti Mama Box subscribers by the second quarter of 2025.

Ship 600 Corporate Boxes to companies by November 2025, a 50% increase from 2024.

Achieving these goals will enable us to:

Train and hire additional artisans from our families.

Hire an Operations Director in Haiti and a staff member for US sales operations.

Provide professional training to at least 7 teenagers and support families in micro-business creation.

Leading to our forever goal : welcoming more kids and families into our Haiti Mama social and economic empowerment program ! Thank you to those who have supported us, and to those who are partnering with us moving forward. You can help us make a significant impact in Haiti.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Camille
